Program Assistant – Mayne Island

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant plays an important role in supporting community programs across Mayne Island, helping to strengthen services for residents of all ages. This includes contributing to food-related initiatives, supporting youth and senior activities, assisting with environmentally focused programs, and providing general administrative and coordination support. The role also includes opportunities to work with digital tools and gain experience in emerging technologies such as AI.

Key Duties:

  • Assist with programs related to community meals, food access, and local garden initiatives.
  • Support youth activities, senior gatherings, and intergenerational events.
  • Provide administrative assistance such as scheduling, correspondence, filing, and preparing reports.
  • Help plan and coordinate workshops, community meetings, and public events.
  • Support volunteers and assist with basic coordination tasks.
  • Contribute to data entry, electronic record-keeping, and simple digital workflow improvements.
  • Assist with environmentally oriented activities such as education, gardening, or community sustainability programs.
  • Participate in grant research and basic supporting documentation.
  • Maintain program records and ensure information is well organized.

This position pays $22.00 per hour for 9 weeks.

This position is partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs 2026.  Eligible participants must be:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
