Activity Day Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual to assist the Community Connector with the Monday Activity Day at the Community Hall. The assistant will be customer service oriented, perform some cleaning duties, set up tables, chairs and other supplies for program activites, run the coffee and tea service, lead trail walks, attend meetings, perform light administrative tasks, and assist where needed and as requested by the Community Connector.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION -Mondays at the Community Hall are dedicated to all seniors 55+, including those with low to modest income, social isolation, low to moderate frailty, or members of underserved groups, including immigrant and ethnocultural minority seniors, Indigenous elders, caregivers, 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors, and persons living with a disability.
We offer a warm and welcoming space to connect with friends, meet new people, and enjoy a sense of community. In collaboration with the Southern Gulf Islands Neighbourhood House, we offer coffee and tea service, morning and afternoon volunteer run activites and a hot lunch. Everyone is invited to join, whether they are looking for companionship, fun, or simply a friendly place to spend the day. Friends and family members of seniors are welcome to attend.

WAGES: $24.40/hr to start, $25.40 at three months, $26.40 at one year, plus payroll benefits
HOURS: PART-TIME, Mondays, 5 hours per week from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Ability to care and treat seniors with respect and dignity.
• Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and caring manner.
• Able to lift and carry heavy items such as tables and chairs. • Be reliable and flexible in meeting work commitments.
• Be able to work independently but also work well with others.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to follow organizational standards and policies.
• Respect that client information is confidential and adhere to the PIHCS Confidentiality agreement.
• Maintain effective communication with clients and the Program Coordinator.
