SquashFest
Pender Island
Spring 2020 and October 3, 2020
Come to the Saturday Market each week in October, to celebrate SquashFest!
The Gulf Islands Food Co-op will be hosting an amazing display of dozens of different squash and pumpkins, all grown on Pender!
We’ll also have a sales table where you can purchase winter squash for Thanksgiving, or to stock up for the winter with hardy squash varieties that should keep right into February.
Market vendors will be participating also, by making delicious squashy treats for the market. Lots of reasons to come to the October Saturday Markets!
SquashFest started in the spring, with free seed and soil give-aways to growers and backyard gardeners, as a way to encourage more food growing on Pender, and to build more connections among growers. Now its time to harvest, and eat! Squash is an amazing vegetable – easy to grow, colorful, nutritious, versatile, diverse and very very tasty!
SquashFest is sponsored by CRD, CRC, Buckerfields, Petals and Paws – thank you!
